Standards Development

Standards Australia consults the APRI as a source of polymer expertise. The APRI nominates members to develop relevant technological standards through the technical committees of Standards Australia. APRI involvement in standards development protects the credibility of the industry and supports market acceptance of the industry’s products.

Professional Development

The APRI provides a path for members to increase their technical competency and upgrade their membership to that of a qualified grade. Employment prospects are enhanced since qualified grades of APRI membership are recognised by public and private sector employers as indicating professional competence. Qualified members can apply for senior grades of membership based on having a position of responsibility requiring scientific managerial or technical experience in polymers and their contribution to progress of the industry.

George Milne Memorial Medal

Significant contributions to the Institute and Industry are recognised by the Council’s annual award of the George Milne Memorial Medal. This is an award to commemorate George Milne and other pioneers of the Australasian Institution of the Rubber Industry and its successors PRI & APRI Inc.

Jim Smithson Medallion

Jim Smithson Medallion is awarded for the best paper, at each Australasian Technology Convention, presented by a current APRI member with the work being related to the Australasian rubber industry.
